This week has been about Theory and Research, but mostly theory if you ask me. Most of the seminar was about discussing what types of theories we had found in our chosen research articles. It was clear that we hadn't fully understood the different types from table 2.
I have learnt that the types from I-IV are different levels of theory complexity. Type II do often contain of type I and so on... Type V seemed to be a "type of its own", and also a more concrete type. We talked a lot about type III Prediction and how it differs from only regular assumption. Prediction is when you have made a research and then at the end can say that "from this we can see that it will be like this". Then you have predicted something that are going to happen, not only what you think might happen.
I also think this week wasn't as abstract as previous weeks, which was comforting. I also liked that we got to chose the article by our own because it's more fun to read about something you have chosen because it genuinely interests you, than just a given text. It was also fun to hear about what articles the other students in my group had chosen and to see our different range in interests, although we are all in the same study program.

SvaraRaderaI think you summarized this weeks seminar very well. The topic we talked about and learned about the most was the different theory types. I agree with you that it was a good thing we got to chose our own papers and journals for this week, since you get so much more out of the theory learned if you have that chance to apply it to something that you enjoy to read about.
I think you are right that a paper some type might contain another type.And one paper might use several types of theories.
SvaraRaderaFor the paper I read this week, I think it used Analysis, Explanation, Design and action since there was no predictions.
After this week, it is much more easier for me now to find out what type of theory is used in the paper.

SvaraRaderaI agree that this weeks theme was not as abstract as the more philosophical themes, however this theme was not really clear to me either. Picking a paper that you could enjoy reading really helped for this seminar, but i still had a hard time grasping what kind of theories were in there since the definition for me still is kind of vague.
